Come To Christ
An individual must understand “sin” before he or she has a need for salvation (saving by Jesus Christ).
SIN … is when we break God’s rules. It is when we do things that are displeasing to God. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.”
An individual needs to know who Jesus is.
JESUS…was different from us in one special way… He never sinned….He never broke the rules like you and the rest of mankind. He died on the cross for you and me. You might be asking yourself the question, “Why would Jesus die on the cross for me?” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son that whosoever believe sin Him would not perish but have everlasting life.”
An individual needs to know about being born.
BIRTH…can take place in a person’s life twice. The day that we came into this world with arms, legs, eyes, ears, our physical body we were born physically. It is celebrated with a birthday. There is another time we can be born and it too can be celebrated. The second time that we are born is when we are born spiritually. Being born spiritually means the same as being born again and being saved. It is the time that you invite Jesus to come into your life to be your Savior and to be the boss/Lord of your life.
An individual needs to know about when it is the right time.
RIGHT TIME…there is a right time to invite JESUS into one’s life. When is it the right time to invite Jesus into your life? How do you know? The Scriptures provide the answers to these extremely important questions. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold I stand at the DOOR and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” Notice that Jesus is speaking here. The door that Jesus wants to open is the door to your heart…to your life. Jesus reveals that “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” When you are at home you answer the door when someone knocks or rings the doorbell. You normally do not go to answer the door until you hear someone knock. The same is true with JESUS. You do not invite Him to come in until you are sure that you have heard Him knock. You want heart Jesus’ voice out loud, but way down deep inside, you will know that JESUS is talking to you.
An individual has to make a decision.
MAKING A DECISION...is the most important thing you will ever make in your life. You can only do that if you know that Jesus is talking to YOU. He is talking to you about your sin that has been breaking God’s rules. You choosing to live your way instead of God’s way. And you know that you have done this and admit it to say that you have sinned.
An individual has to know what repentance is.
REPENT…means that you now want to turn away from your sin. If you are willing to choose God’s way for your life instead of your way this is called repentance.
An individual needs to know what to ask JESUS.
ASK…JESUS to come into your life and save you from your sins by praying a simple prayer like this: “Dear God…I know that I am a sinner…I know that I have broken your rules…I am sorry…Please forgive me… Thank you for dying on the cross for me…Please come into my life and save me… Thank you for saving me…Amen.”
An individual needs to know where his or her name can be put.
TWO VERSES OF SCRIPTURE…Look at John 3:16, “For God so loved (your name) that God gave His only begotten Son that if (your name) would believe in JESUS (your name) would not perish but (your name) would have everlasting life.” Remember Jesus says in Hebrews 13:56 that He will, “Never leave us or forsake us.”
An individual needs to experience baptism.
BAPTISM…is now the next step for you for a special reason. When you are put under the water in baptism, this pictures the death and burial of Jesus. (Scripture references: Colossians 2:12 & Galatians 3:27) When we are brought up out of the water in baptism, this pictures the resurrection of JESUS in your life. Baptism pictures our death to sin and our resurrection to a new life in Christ Jesus.
An individual needs to know how to follow JESUS.
FOLLOWING JESUS…as one of His very own should be the desire of your heart for the rest of your life. To follow Jesus is to obey Him there are a lots of ways for you to obey JESUS. God wants you to spend some time praying to Him. Talk to Him like you would your best friend. He is always available to listen to you and to answer you. Scripture references: Luke 18:1 and 1 Thessalonians 5:17) Spend some time listening and communicating with God by reading the Bible every day.
An individual needs to tell what has happened to you.
TELL SOMEBODY…that you know about JESUS. That is what is called WITNESSING. To witness just means to tell people what has happened to you. Scripture reference: Acts 1:8.
An individual needs to become an active member of the local church.
GO TO CHURCH…because it is important that you learn more about Jesus and realize you now have been given by God a special gift for you to use in HIS CHURCH. Look on this website for some wonderful church and their location near you to do just that.
